Hi! If you are coming from our Singapore travel journal, then welcome back! We were staying at the Rendezvous Hotel Singapore last time during our trip. This is our personal experience staying at this hotel. And I need to say that I enjoy staying here more than I like saying the name. (French is not my forte.)
Singapore ranks as the top expensive city to live in the world. And it can get a bit tricky to find a place to stay that can accommodate all the basic needs without having to blow up our budget. But we also don’t want to sacrifice our comfort for the sake of budget, which we have done before. Oh yes, we have.
Because we only here for a short getaway with soo little time, so our main goal was to find a place with a strategic location which leads us to the first point.
Location
Everyone knows that Singapore public transportation is one of the best, hands down. So, when looking for a place it doesn’t really matter if it is a bit further away from the central as long as it is near to the MRT station. The closer, the better. #MRTlyfe
And I couldn’t be happier with the location of this hotel. Dhoby Ghaut station is 5 minutes away walking and it is an interchange station so we could literally go anywhere without changing stations. Bras Basah station is also really close by.
Another thing that’s a huge point for location is the surrounding. It is located in the Arts & Heritage District which basically the nicest place to walk around. It is surrounded by art college, museum, park, and heritage places. And (the cool!) SOTA is just across the road.
There are also shopping malls around. The closest one is The Cathay, just beside SOTA. We had everything we need less than 5 minutes walk. 2 thumbs up for the location!
Room
We booked Superior Room and it ticked all my expectation. The room was kinda small but we predict that already. Hey, this is Singapore, if you got space to lay down your luggage then it is already more than average. But first, let’s talk about the bed. The bed, however, is the best hotel bed I have ever slept on. Ever.
With the name of Rendezvous, I expect the room to feel somehow fancier and yeah it totally did. It looks posh but still modern. There is a working table which for someone coming here for a business trip could really appreciate. Also a reading corner, fridge, and TV.
Then it also has a Bluetooth docking entertainment system, with classic iPod docking which I am not sure anyone still uses. They should upgrade that to the newer one but that’s just me being extra picky.
The bathroom is clean and the toiletries are provided. Not every hotel in Singapore provide that but for a hotel in this level, they usually will provide that. The shower was alright, they have a heater for hot water, obviously. But if I need to be extra picky again then a bathtub will be nice, to complete the luxury feels.
But unfortunately, there was no view for Superior Room. Only deluxe room and above that get the view. Club Rooms above get an access to Club Rendezvous lounge. Well, you get what you paid for.
Service
For a 4* hotel, their service was great, as expected. The check-in process was smooth and didn’t take too long. They also let us get in before the check-in time because we had a morning flight hence we arrived quite early, which I can appreciate. The bellman helping with our luggage was also really polite and friendly.
We don’t really get the super friendly service that we get from smaller hotels, like Duc Vuong Hotel in Saigon or An Nam Legend Hotel in Hanoi but that’s totally understandable. It is a standard professional hotel service. You gotta stay at hostels which usually more accommodating for backpacker if that’s more like your style.
The reception area also designed really well. It suits the image of the hotel, posh and modern. They also have another lounge area called the Library, swimming pool, and retail area, more like a mini shopping mall.
But I can’t talk much about their breakfast because we booked our room without breakfast which you should. While in Singapore, eat like locals do, the true Singaporean style breakfast, foodcourt! Or hawker center, whichever you want to call it. It’s easy to find, relatively cheaper and taste c’est délicieux!
The Rate
Now talking about the rate, it was not the cheapest option nor the more expensive one. It’s more like a middle range of hotel. Not as expensive as, let’s say, Marina Bay Sands. It’s a 4* hotel anyway. But if you are someone that needs that comfort to sleep, then you gonna willing to pay for that bed, I mean for the room. 😝 You can use the search bar below to compare prices on different hotels and dates in Singapore.
Rendezvous Hotel in Conclusion
Yes, I will definitely back to this hotel when I am traveling to Singapore again. The location is incredible. It’s totally worth the money for me. BUT if I am going with a limited budget then I might not stay at this hotel. Just because there are still lots of options for a much lower price point. The location might not be as strategic as this place but I can still live with it.
