Finding a place to stay when traveling is an exciting part when planning but can get pretty complicated. If budget isn’t part of your consideration then this might not be a topic at all. But let’s be real, the majority of us do care about the cost of our accommodation. The cheapest and the most strategically located will win the battle of hotels, if that thing does exist.
If you are traveling to South East Asia, finding hotels in decent location won’t cost you a fortune. But traveling in Scandinavia, now that’s a different story. The accommodation is going to be one of, if not the major cost on your budget. I stayed in Generator Hostel and this hotel while in Stockholm and this is the Good Morning Hägersten Hotel Review.
Location
Good Morning Hotel is actually a budget chain hotel located all over Sweden. The most famous one is probably the one located in Arlanda Airport. As the name suggested, this one is located in Hägersten which is one of the suburb areas in the Southern Stockholm.
Staying in the center of Stockholm is just blatantly expensive. So staying in the suburb could be one way to save some bucks, Good Morning Hägersten is no exception. I don’t think you will be able to get a private room in Central Stockholm with that kind of rate.
It takes 30mins from the center to Good Morning Hägersten by Metro. A 20mins journey from T-Centralen to Västertorp, the nearest metro station to the hotel. Then continue with 10mins walking.
Room
Now the rooms, the other things that this hotel does right is the size of the room. It is pretty spacious. I guess that’s one of the perks staying at the suburb eh? There are also working desk and quiet enough storage with there not-so-obvious wardrobe.
Generally, everything is pretty clean including the bathroom. I believe they only provide a soap or an all-in-one soap/shampoo in the shower which I didn’t use (maybe in some desperate situation). The bathroom lighting is okay, could be brighter but not blindingly bright.
Breakfast
The food itself was good, even tho the selection wasn’t too much. The breakfast location was just behind the receptionist area. It did get packed during breakfast and took me quite some time waiting in line to get the food. So maybe try to get earlier if you want to avoid the crowds.
Depends on your rate package, you might book this including breakfast or without. We booked it with breakfast and will recommend getting one. Because the location is kinda in the middle of residentials area, it is quite hard to find restaurant or convenience store around.
Conclusion
This is technically not the one for you if the center is where you wanna stay. It might take quite some time to travel back and forth but if you are only staying 1 night or just using this place as a place to sleep then it might be an option. You got excellent breakfast, nice spacious room, peaceful environment, good deals on price, what more to ask?
But if you loved staying out, being in the center of everything, a young soul, and doesn’t mind the city noise then the Generator Hostel might be the one for you. The review is coming very very soon! Till then, read also our Stockholm Travel Journal and the rest of our Nordic Travel Series. Tack!
